This was the promotion for
CACTUS TO PINES
October 4, 2008
|
End your summer on a trail adventure that will take us From Cactus to Pines! Our journey will begin in the parched, late summer's high desert in Yucca Valley. From there, we will negotiate our way up the flash-flood-riddled Rattlesnake Canyon, through its deep sand and tumbleweeds to the northeast base of the San Bernardino Mountains. The climb from there will take us through increasing flora, past Joshua trees, and up some narrow steep grades to our destination in the cool high pines in the National Forest at over 8000 feet above sea level. No prerun has been performed on this route, and we have not been up Rattlesnake since 2004. The flash floods that were a daily occurrence during the last month have rearranged the trail countless times. So the difficulty level of the trail at this time is unknown, but it is sure to be a challenging adventure even for the most capable drivers.
